Jack Wilshere is a fantastic player. The best talent to come
out of the Hale End Academy since a certain money grabbing left back. There is
no doubt about his potential which is there to be seen. In an interview he has recently expressed how
he felt about critics and pundit writing him off the England’s midfield after
the match against Ukraine. According to
Wilshere:
“But it goes with the territory. One match and suddenly I’m not ready to play international football. I’m not any good any more. I didn’t take much notice of it.”
Wilshere is right not to get too upset
about certain critics, whose agenda is always to sensationalize issues and grab
their 15 minutes of fame. It has happened to others before and will happen to others in
future too. Now a days every Tom, Dick and Harry has an opinion about
everything, but people should mind the difference between stating an opinion
and stating a fact. Wilshere may have had a bad game but he is not a complete
player yet. He is still 21. He had lost 17 months to injury and according to
Wenger and Hodgson he is still not yet 100% fit. The problem with England is that
they have so less real quality that they overburden every rising star with the
task of hauling their lackluster team to World Cup heroics. Wilshere is aware of the media presence
around him and he is wise enough not to believe in his own hype. Wilshere has also
mentioned how Wenger has helped him improve his game since he was 14 year
old. He highlighted the position
where he would like to play in future and currently what his game lacks. According to
Wilshere:
"It was the number I wore in the youth teams and in the reserves. Number 10 is the job I want; in the middle of things, moving the ball forward.
"I'd like to score more goals. Right now my goal ratio is embarrassing, but my job is to make things happen, be creative."
The guy knows exactly what are his weaknesses and what exactly are his strengths. It looks as if he is consciously working to iron out the
flaws in his game. He should learn to pass the ball a bit sooner
rather than stumbling on to a defensive wall. He is not yet a complete
no .10 as per my opinion. I see him more as a box to box player, who
makes buccaneering runs that Viera and Diaby used to make. He has to polish his
end products and with time and fitness he will be able to do that.
I, was never a big Wilshere fan (more of a Ramsey fan), but
after reading his article and seeing his honest attitude towards the game, I
wish he would just silence his critics by taking a leaf from Ramsey’s book.
They both are equally dynamic and get in to good goal scoring positions. Last
year, Ramsey was also not so prolific but uninterrupted confidence shown to him
by Wenger helped him improve his game. Wilshere should take the advantage of
the confidence shown by Wenger to make his critics look like mugs and be the
player everyone thought him to be since that night against Barca.
In other news there is a joke of a pundit who goes by the
name of Michael Owen running off his mouth against Arsenal. He thinks (apparently his brain is one part of the body
that never get injured) that Arsenal are not even a top 4 Squad. According to him we don’t have
any quality in the squad except for Ozil. He also thinks only a certain Welshman
who plays half a season well and fetches a mind boggling transfer fee is
consistent, but the likes of a certain Ramsey can’t be. According to Owen:
“Clearly Arsenal have a fabulous manager, a wonderful stadium and a great fan base. You would tend to give Arsène Wenger the benefit of the doubt but the depth of quality is not yet there in this squad. If Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud went back to being the players they were last year Arsenal would start to look fairly average by their standards. “
Clearly, he forgot to check the injury list Arsenal faces.
Even without 9 first team squad players we were able to defeat teams like
Marseille, Tottenham, Stoke. He must have slept when our teenagers beat West
Brom the other night. How many
youngsters did United use to win against
Liverpool ??? I don’t think Nani or Kagawa can be counted as youths. According
to critics and pundits such as Owen Arsenal should have bought 10 more
forwards, 10 more defenders , 10 more midfielders in a world cup year where everyone
wants to play regularly. It is as if Wenegr has a Crystal Ball and can foresee
the amount of injuries that will take place in a season. Even when we achieve comfortable
results against decent teams, people like Owen won’t shut up and give us the credit we deserve. Whether we will win the title or not is
another question but he doesn’t even see us in top four. People like him should not be taken so
seriously. I mean look at his moustache. How can anyone take a pundit with that kind
of facial hair seriously. Owen should just go home and look after his horses
because that would make him look like less of a fool than he is. On a
parting note here is a Wenger meme just for Owen.
Come On You Gunners!!!!!
