Arsenal has officially announced that Gatorade the new official Sports
drink and Sports nutrition partner. According, to Vinai Venkatesham, Arsenal's
director of global partnership and business strategy
“As we further build our support in international territories, we know that
we can help connect Gatorade with fans around the world. As a company they
offer us products and knowledge honed by decades of research, and we are
looking forward to working together with our own sports medicine experts to
offer all of our players the best sports nutrition products and support."
This deal earmarks a new era of commercial revenue
generated by the commercial team. As we have seen the wages spent on the
commercial team has been increasing exponentially it is high time that we see
more of this kind of secondary commercial sponsorship which would enable us to
derive enough revenue to compete at the highest level. We can now also find
commercial deals for official broadband partner, official telecom partner,
official tea partner. The one lesson I, want Arsenal to follow from the Bayern
Munichs or the Manchester Uniteds of the world, is to sell yourself in every
which way possible to garner maximum Commercial value. If we are indeed
thinking about global domination, then we need to take that step and
commercialize the soul of the club. If we can generate even 80- 90%
of the revenue then it would be a worthwhile achievement. The gatorade
deal should just be the tip of the iceberg and should not be thought of as the
iceberg itself. We should not now take a step back but get
more aggressive in the market.
In other news Kroenke has given an interview to some British
tabloids about his vision for Arsenal and Arsene wenger. According to kroenke
he has kept Wenger in his long term plans and he is proud of what Wenger has
achieved with the team at his disposal. According to Kroenke:
“He knows
how we feel, what our philosophy is, what we want to do and I feel like we are
totally aligned. I think he wants to do it the exact same way as we do.
“I don’t want to say something about Arsene that is not the way he feels but, to me, he seems to love what he does. But that’s Arsene’s decision.”
“I don’t want to say something about Arsene that is not the way he feels but, to me, he seems to love what he does. But that’s Arsene’s decision.”
And
wenger has reciprocated the feeling for Kroenke by saying how honored he was
to be at Arsenal and how arsenal is a special club. He also successfully
mentioned all the other lucrative offers he had rejected to stay at Arsenal.
According to Wenger:
"I am very honoured to have the support of Stan Kroenke - that is a
huge confidence vote,"
This shows that both Kroenke and Wenger have had a
mutual understanding of how they want to see Arsenal perform in future. Kroenke,
has appreciated the financial edge that Wenger brings to Arsenal. He knows that
Wenger will not disrupt the club's ethos and financial stability in order to
win at any cost. He knows he has a certified manager who can win him the title
with astute signings. Now with the revenue looking to improve in coming seasons
we might see another great team built by Wenger. Kroenke also talked about what
he thinks of billionaire sugar daddy and their involvement in football. He said
that the investment from the billionaire pockets will continue for a certain
time and when it stops then the club might face problems. We have seen it happen
to Malaga, Anzhi and so on. Wenger and Kroenke know that they both understand
each other and have each other’s backing. They are ready to the long route to
success instead of the shortcuts the like of City n Chelsea take.
Kroenke, also shed some light on the Luis Suarez
transfer Saga. He said after the public ridicule of the transfer bid for Suarez
he had known that Liverpool won't sell him to arsenal until and unless we do a
Real Madrid on them. As long as it doesnt take an insane bid suarez would be
welcome to Arsenal but if we spent ridiculous money for one player then it
belies our traditions, ethics and philosophy. I, agree that we need a world
class striker but for 86 million GBP, I would rather have two Mesut Ozils. If
in the January window we don’t get
Benzema or someone of his ilk (very limited options indeed), then we should
rather try to buy someone, who might not be world class but a decent player.
Someone, like Luis Muriel comes to my mind. He might not be world class yet but
with proper guidance can reach there.
That was all that was interesting to write about
for today. We have a big game coming up tomorrow. Swansea away is not going to
be a cake walk. The team has to show the resolve and fighting spirit to
continue the run of 11 consecutive away record in all competition.
I will post a pre- match analysis with line- up
prediction tomorrow.
Till then Eat well Sleep tight or better play Fifa
14!!!!!!.
